The projected $1.58 billion Mega Millions prize, which was supposed to be the highest in lottery history, was won by one ticket purchased in Florida, according to the lottery's website.

If the jackpot is verified to be $1.58 billion, it will surpass the previous Mega Millions record of $1.537 billion won in South Carolina in 2018, according to the lottery.
